Union 4 Life Dunk Tank Raises Over $1,900 for University of Michigan Cancer Center

Union 4 Life held its first Dunk Tank at the 2017 IBEW Local 252 Summer Picnic on August 19, 2017 at the UAW Hall in Chelsea, Mich. The Ann Arbor Electrical JATC and IBEW Local 252/NECA Apprentices were able to raise just over $1,900 for the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center's Breast Cancer Research Program during the event.

AAEJATC Instructor Lew Neeb agreed to shave his mustache after the event if the Union 4 Life team could raise $500 during his shift at the tank. Neeb's shift, which ran from 2 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. raise $1,055.

Neeb honored his promise after his shift and shaved his mustache for the first time in 35 years.

"The generosity of my union family is humbling," Neeb said. "They are people of the highest character.

AAEJATC Training Director John Salyer said he is looking forward to the future of Union 4 Life.

"It's just amazing how each new class has embraced the concept of giving back to our community in this way," Salyer said of the AAEJATC and IBEW Local 252/NECA Apprentices. "I am looking forward to seeing what great ideas come from our 2022 class. With 28 students it should be just as exciting."

Other participants for the Dunk Tank included: AAEJATC Training Director John Salyer, IBEW Local 252 Business Manager Tim Hutchins, AAEJATC and

IBEW Local 252/NECA Apprentices

Salyer and Neeb practice at the AAEJATC for the upcoming event. Wes Grove and Maurice Patry and IBEW Local 252 Journeyman Douglas Frye, Harry Hutchison Jr, Jesse Nickerson, Geoff Morning, Alex Hovatter and Erik Kane.
